QRO Solutions have been busy developing a new High-Definition In-Vehicle Digital Video Recording (DVR) solution that can be used standalone or to compliment the QBOX ANPR solution QRO currently offer. In brief, this DVR solution is comprised of a small HD camera mounted behind the vehicle’s internal mirror and a secondary HD camera internally mounted to the vehicle’s roof lining – both cameras being out of airbag deployment zones. The DVR solution automatically engages upon start-up of the vehicle’s engine recording video to disc. Capturing video clips is controlled by a manual activation button fitted to the central console, or on activation of the vehicle’s blue lights. Pre and post event footage is also stored and can be reviewed and edited via a web application using a secure portable tablet device stored in the vehicle glove box, before uploading chosen clips to QRO’s video management system or the chosen Force video management suite.
QRO have developed the user interface with user operation in mind. The application allows for simple playback of recorded clips, editing of recorded clips, removing unwanted clips, and marking clips of interest to upload. There is also an option to allow users to go back to the master clip to create a manual recording at a later date. The solution is intended to utilise WIFI for video upload, which will automatically upload all marked clips when it connects to the specified WIFI network. The solution also supports LAN and USB for video transfer if required. The user interface can be run on an Android or windows tablet or a mobile phone device.
After development it was time to put QRO’s DVR solution to independent customer trial, alongside two major DVR competitor products. All products were rigorously tested and after several functional comparisons were made, all testing officers agreed QRO’s DVR solution was their preferred product option, with QRO’s quality, ease of use, functionality, and officer safety, leading factors in their decision making.
QRO are extremely pleased with the outcome of the independent customer trial and look forward to seeing the new DVR solution in operation by Forces nationwide.
